Calidad institucional y competitividad en el comercio y producción de países sudamericanos

El objetivo del estudio es determinar el efecto de la calidad institucional y competitividad global sobre el flujo comercial de los países Sudamericanos (Argentina, Brasil, Chile, Colombia y Perú) con sus socios comerciales para el período 1996-2007 y, en una segunda etapa, cómo estas variables y el comercio aproximado afectan en la producción.
Dado que el comercio, la calidad institucional y competitividad global son variables endógenas, se aplicará un modelo gravitacional ampliado en dos etapas y estimado mediante datos de panel estáticos con efectos fijos y aleatorios. La investigación logra detectar que a menor percepción de la corrupción en entidades públicas y aumento de la democracia y competitividad global en el país, mayores serán el comercio bilateral y productividad de los países sudamericanos. Además, el estudio confirma la importancia del acuerdo multilateral APEC (Foro de Cooperación Económica de Asia-Pacifico) en el comercio exterior de los países en estudio.
