This study analyzes, from a bibliometric perspective, the dynamics of scientific production on burnout in commercial banking environments, considering the temporal evolution of the topic, the levels of author collaboration, citation patterns, predominant disciplinary areas, and existing research gaps in Chile and Latin America.
A quantitative documentary analysis based on bibliometric indicators was conducted, examining thematic growth, co-authorship networks, editorial concentration by disciplinary areas, and the absence of sector-specific longitudinal studies in the Latin American region.
The findings confirm that scientific interest in burnout within the banking sector experienced progressive growth beginning in 2005, reaching its highest levels of editorial production between 2009 and 2010, followed by a relative decline after 2011.
The results reveal a significant gap in the development of longitudinal documentary series and sector-specific bibliometric studies applied to commercial banking in Chile and Latin America. The contribution of this work lies in highlighting this gap and promoting new lines of inquiry that strengthen the generation of documentary evidence to support organizational and research planning within the regulated financial sector in the region.
