This paper examines the mechanisms through which the figure of the migrant is represented in contemporary Chilean cinema. For this purpose, it analyses two fiction films that rely on different procedures and representation strategies in addressing the issue of migration in the region. The analysis draws on various disciplinary fields and analytic methods. On this basis, it considers the elements that are mobilized in the formal configuration of the migrant subject, as well as the use of its representation politically and esthetically. Finally, the paper reflects on the narrative construction and the social context that sustain the stories.
