Abstract

This essay is the third approach to Chaskel and Sanz's film No es hora de llorar (1971). Some conjectures have already been reviewed (Verdugo, 2023) and presented (Verdugo, 2024). Insistence is based on its aesthetic/political value in the face of acute repression, torture, and captivity, drawing from memory and conflict from a first-person perspective. As an archival gesture, testimony, and narration of the inexpressible, it unfolds a politically engaged cinema, in complete control of its discourse, gradually revealing transparency. In a present marked by the trivialization of war imagery, it makes sense to revisit these procedures two or three times.
