Abstract

Among the Argentine and Chilean films dedicated to the dictatorship, we chose a restricted corpus of works. These are films in which the narrative stops to show us "something else": a paradoxical and violent theatrical scene (Prohibido, A. Di Tella); a frame (Imagen final, Habegger); a still image (La memoria obstinada, P. Guzmán). These heterogeneous materials on the one hand work against power, which wants the annihilation of all difference, the disappearance of all testimony and the fictionalization of the real; on the other hand, they build a memory "resistant despite everything", who, instead of focusing on the lineage of the victors, does not want to forget the unnamed that form the "tradition .of the defeated".
