Abstract

The article presents the results of a research aimed at the rescue of the juvenile sound memory in the context of the Chilean civic-military dictatorship. The results identify the sound memories associated with New Song and Latin rock as generational experiences linked to memories of a daily life closely guarded and severely limited in its musical expression. This base constituted a cultural unit of resistance with generational hymns that transcend past time and give meaning to the present time, through the updating of a youth identity that was censored, denied and stigmatized by dictatorial authorities
