Abstract

This sculptural-artistic project is organized, firstly, based on some fundamental principles that summarize cosmology and art in Mayan and Nahuatl culture, as well as their differences as a confluence with the Western-Christian world. As an artistic proposal, and, as a whole, it seeks to propose a synthesis of non-Western and Western epistemologies, which constitutes the referent of the sculptural work that is presented at the end of the text. This seeks to propose a change in fundamental perspective in which the human being achieves a new orientation facing issues such as the transience of existence, our
relationship with the planet and our own integration in this totality. The method will be mythical-epistemological, or poetic-logical, in the sense that the work of a poet like Ernesto Cardenal opens doors to rule out the dualities that exclude something poetic or mythical from having epistemological value.
