Evidence-based nursing (EBN) allows the nursing professional to carry out clinical practice based on the best scientific evidence, aiming for more holistic care. The study determines the level of application of EBN competencies in professional practice. This is a descriptive non-experimental quantitative cross-sectional study, in a total of 380 professionals the "Evidence-Based Practice in Nursing Questionnaire (EBPQ-19)" was applied. The correlation between variables was measured using Spearman's coefficient and the Cron Bach coefficient. It was determined that 83.4% of the respondents were women, aged between 30 and 39 years, and with years of service between 0 and 5, coinciding with the years of work experience in the hospitals evaluated. The mean score for the EBE competence level of the nurses was 71.96 points. The results for each of the dimensions of the EBPQ-19 showed a mean score of 13.46% for attitude, an excellent score of 66.8% for knowledge and skills, and 54% for practical dimensions. Statistical analysis of Pearson's R-value (-0.24) between years of work experience and total score shows a weak negative correlation, which would indicate that professionals with more years of work experience have difficulty in the application of evidence-based practice.
