Additional information: The species was collected on 26 September 2012. The micrograph was obtained using a JEOL JSM-7600F scanning electron microscope (5 kV, working distance 15 mm, ×2,000). The material was dehydrated through an ethanol series (30, 50, 70, 90, and 100%) and coated with approximately 20 nm of gold–palladium using a Polaron SC7640 High Resolution Sputter Coater (Quorum Technologies Ltd.). Analyses were conducted at the National Laboratory for the Study of Nano- and Biomaterials, Department of Applied Physics, CINVESTAV-IPN, Mérida Unit. This study was funded by projects FOMIX-Yucatán No. 108160 and CONACYT LAB-2009-01 No. 123913, Mexico (principal investigator: Patricia Quintana-Owen).
