Abstract

A didactic intervention on ants is designed and implemented with 4-year-old pre-school students. Based on a diagnostic evaluation of their experiences/perceptions with insects, the activities contrast mammalian and anthropomorphic concepts about ants with observations of real ants and realistic reproductions, and also include task compatible with classic cards designed with these insects. The results achieved with the educational intervention have been very positive from the methodological, motivational and emotional approach to living beings’ perspectives, in addition to those related to basic knowledge about the group. The differences between drawings at the beginning and at the end of the intervention show the evolution of the concept of ant by the students.
