The time of the end: the outcome of failed globalization

The mistaken identification of the process of globalization with the global expansion of the financial economy leads the thought to a state of closure and impotence in the face of the global problems facing humanity today. The idea that there is no "way out" or "alternative" to the hegemony of the neoliberal regime subsumes thought into a climate of conceptual exhaustion and a feeling of the end of the world. Our hypothesis in this article is that this is the end of the horizon of meaning produced by the Westernization of the world. Particularly relevant in all this is the crisis of the nation-state, the pillar of modernity. The task for thought at this moment is, beyond pessimism or optimism, to address what remains unprecedented in a history that is irreversible and that does lead us to the need to imagine not only the future, but also our own present.
