The RAE dictionary defines "Threshold" as the "primary and principal step or entry point of anything." Its etymology, derived from the Latin "liminaris" (or "liminar"), underscores the significance of transitioning, experiencing, and assimilating this concept as a transformative possibility and opportunity. Consequently, the Threshold Integrated Workshop serves as a supplementary component within the initial curriculum that first-year Architecture students undertake at the School of Architecture, University of Valparaíso. This workshop seeks to provide continuity for individuals who, owing to diverse circumstances, have not successfully completed one or both of the workshops constituting this curriculum level.
Five workshop perspectives are explored: 1. Finding and pre-existence 2. The storytelling as a way to think about architecture 3. Compose and assemble the material 4. Drawing as experimentation and precision 5. Learning time: from the personal assignment to the collective workshop experience.
The workshop functions as a collective entity, in groups of students oriented by teachers.
