The effects of metacognition on moral judgement
a study based on Joshua Greene’s Dual Process Model

In the present study, we search for the influence of metacognition on consequentialist and deontological moral judgments. Using a sample of 351 participants, metacognition was in-duced in the experimental group and their judgments were compared to those of the control group in response to moral dilemmas presented in audiovisual format. The results showed a significant correlation between induced metacognition and the emission of moral judgments, indicating that students with induced metacognition have a greater tendency to judge per-sonal moral dilemmas in a consequentialist way. The results and their implications for ethical education are discussed. The study was conducted under Joshua Greene's dual-process model of moral judgment.
